Write for us
We publish original Australian essays of 1,200 words or more on the craft of the books. If you have sat with a messy file, a late BAS or a payroll that did not match the award, you may have a piece.
What we want
- Practical long-form grounded in Australian law, awards and ATO practice.
- A named problem, a method, and the mistake you still see in files.
- Australian English. Specific forms, rates and dates, with a last-checked note.
- No recycled listicles, no “ten tips”, no software brochure copy.
How to pitch
Send one paragraph on the problem, one on the reader, and three working headings to the contact desk. Attach nothing until we ask. If we take the piece we will edit for house style, add a disclosure, and schedule it in the relevant archive hub.
Links, payment and disclosure
Authors may mention a firm they work for once, in the bio. Product links that are paid, affiliate or placed as part of a guest arrangement are marked rel="sponsored" in the HTML. Editorial mentions of Xero, MYOB, the ATO or Fair Work are not endorsements.
For an example of how we treat a commercial resource, see the ATO’s own guidance rather than a marketplace: we would rather send a reader to official activity statement material than to a paid landing page.
What we will not run
- Personal tax advice dressed as a story.
- Unlicensed credit, SMSF or legal advice.
- AI-generated drafts that have not been worked by a practitioner.
- Anything that asks us to hide a commercial relationship.
